Maia Marten is a London prosecutor and single mother raising her diabetic son, Noah. She is due tomorrow in court for the trial of notorious crime boss Tommy Boyd, Maia drops Noah off at school and goes for a run. During the run, she receives a call from Noah’s phone. The man on the other end is a stranger working for Boyd.

The Caller tells Maia that Noah has been kidnapped and warns that she must follow every instruction if she wants him back alive. He has hacked her phone, can track her movements, and has access to her messages and personal information, leaving her with almost no way to secretly contact anyone for help.

He directs Maia to a dumpster, where she finds Noah’s backpack containing a gun linked to Boyd. The Caller then reveals that he has taken control of Noah’s insulin pump and forced him into a diabetic coma. Maia has one hour to reach the Excelsus Hotel, where key prosecution witness Radian Tafa is being held under police protection, and kill him with the gun. If she fails, Noah will die.

Maia races across London while the Caller stays on the line, tormenting her with private information taken from her phone, including details about her colleague and romantic interest, Ted. She repeatedly tries to steal or borrow another phone so she can contact Ted without being detected, but her attempts appear to fail.

As she runs, the Caller begins probing Maia about her past, particularly the death of her abusive father, whose murder was blamed on her mother. Distracted by the conversation, Maia is struck by a car and wakes several minutes later in an ambulance. Desperate to make up for the lost time, she jumps out and enters the London Underground despite being ordered not to.

While getting off a train, Maia suddenly loses contact with the Caller and realizes that her phone has been stolen by a pickpocket. She races after the thief and eventually corners him, threatening him with the gun. The confrontation attracts the attention of police, forcing Maia to flee into an underground tunnel. By the time she reaches the surface, officers are already searching for her, but she manages to escape and hide inside a nearby church.

Once she reconnects with the Caller, Maia learns that he has altered the plan. He now intends to kill Tafa himself with a bomb. During their conversation, Maia finally admits the truth about her father’s death: she was the one who killed him, using a pistol she had learned to fire while target shooting.

The Caller gives her fifteen minutes to reach the hotel and shoot Tafa. While crossing Waterloo Bridge, Maia is recognized by a police officer. With nowhere to run, she jumps from the bridge onto a passing barge, then leaps from the boat onto a jetty near the HMS Belfast. She finally reaches the Excelsus Hotel and makes her way to Tafa’s suite on the 53rd floor. With the Caller watching, Maia fires several shots into Tafa.

Believing the assassination has succeeded, the Caller, who has been hiding several floors above, pulls the fire alarm and prepares to escape. Maia, meanwhile, finds Noah and administers glucagon, successfully reviving him.

In the hotel lobby, a police detective approaches Maia and tells her that the Caller is still somewhere nearby, though he makes no attempt to arrest her. Noah then spots the man outside through a window, disguised as a paramedic. With the hotel locked down, Maia has no way to reach him. Convinced that he has won, the Caller confronts Maia. Then he sees Tafa being escorted from the building alive.

Maia’s apparent inability to contact anyone had been part of a deception. During her time in the Underground, she had managed to borrow a stranger’s phone and used her lipstick to send Ted and the police a message explaining what was happening. Working with Maia, the police replaced the gun’s ammunition with blanks and staged Tafa’s murder using blood packs.

Maia tells the Caller that, despite everything he believed about her, she is not a killer. She fires another blank in his direction, exposing his location to the police. Realizing that Maia has outmaneuvered him, the Caller gives himself up and is arrested. His bomb is found and defused before it can explode. With Tafa still alive to testify, Tommy Boyd is ultimately convicted.

Later, as Maia and Noah are driven home, Maia’s phone rings with another call from an unknown number. This time, she does not answer. She simply throws the phone out of the car.
