So Henry sets out to the mining town of Trinity, Montana, riding in a bumpy stagecoach that moves along the desert at a snail's pace. With him is his father’s ashes. The sheriff of Trinity is the one Henry is looking for, as he is the man that framed his father and caused his death at the hand of the law. Soon after Henry arrives, he begins to notice that Trinity is a very remote and somewhat lawless town.

His mission to find the sheriff results in a surprise: the man that framed his father is dead. The new sheriff, Gideon Dove, an Irish immigrant, is the one to break the news to Henry. Here Henry meets Dove’s wife, a lovely woman named Sarah. He warns Henry that he should not mention that he is the son of Isaac Broadway, as there are many hotheads with handguns that would delight in killing him.

Henry claims ignorance regarding his father's illicitly acquired gold bars. However, St. Christopher, who is relentless in his pursuits, believes the treasure is concealed somewhere within or around Trinity.Meanwhile, Sheriff Dove attempts to distract the town of Trinity from their hunt for Running Cub, a young Blackfoot woman who is believed by some to be responsible for the death of the previous sheriff, the same man who framed Henry's father. Dove wants to protect Running Cub from the town's murderous malice.

The primary stalker looking for Running Foot is a man named Gideon, who ignites the town in the search for her. And Sheriff Dove knows exactly where she is — encamped in a remote location not far from town, biding her time until she can avenge the death of her father, who was killed by the racist townsfolk of Trinity.

The climactic shootout ignites as the confrontation reaches its peak, revealing the wildly divergent motives of each participant. Running Foot seeks vengeance for her father. Sheriff Dove and Henry aim to protect her. Conversely, Gideon, St. Christopher, and the racist townspeople unite against Running Foot, driven by their desire to avenge their former sheriff. The town is picked apart but Henry and Sheriff Dove manage to protect Running Foot against Gideo and her other adversaries.
