Plot Synopsis

In 2008, seventeen years ago, (seven years before the incident at Jurassic World), a laboratory on the island of Ile Saint-Hubert in the Atlantic Ocean was being utilized to create transgenic mutated dinosaurs. One of these creations is a six-limbed and deformed tyrannosaur called ‘Distortus Rex’ by the scientists. The distortus rex manages to escape its confinement and wreaks havoc upon the island, leading the island to become entirely abandoned.

Seventeen years later, the Earth’s climate has become entirely inhospitable to dinosaurs. The remaining dinosaurs are forced to migrate to areas around the Equator, which most closely resembles the Mesozoic climate they are used to.These areas have since been marked as ‘no travel zones’.

Later, an executive at ParkerGenix, a pharmaceutical company, named Martin Krebs recurites a former ex-military covert operative, Zora Bennet, to collaborate with Dr. Henry Loomis. Their collective mission is to obtain biomaterial specimen samples from three of the largest prehistoric specimens, which apparently hold the ‘key’ to a new heart disease treatment.

In a bar in Suriname, South Africa, Zora recruits Duncan Kincaid, an old friend, to lead the expedition. Duncan brings along his boat driver, LeClerc, security chief Bobby Atwater, and a mercenary named Nina.

The group sets out to Ile Saint-Hubert to extract the biomaterial from the terrestrial Titanosaurus, the aviary Quetzalcoatlus, and the aquatic Mosasaurus. Together they track the Mosasaur which has shipwrecked a family sailing around the island. The family includes father Reuben Delgado, along with his daughters Teresa, her boyfriend Xavier, and his youngest daughter Isabella. They manage to rescue the family and Zora is able to extract her sample.

However, the Mosasaur returns song with a large group of Spinosaurus and they attack the ship, which kills Bobby and Nina. Martin prevents Teresa from calling for help in order to protect the secrecy of the mission. He then refuses to assist her when she and the other Delgados fall overboard. Then, the Mosasaur forces the ship around, which strands the entire team. Zora explains that she has called for a rescue helicopter which is set to circle the island in just 24 hours.

Zora finally manages to extract the sample from both the Titanosaurus and the third (and final) sample from the nest of the Quetzalcoatlus, though LeClerc is eaten. Elsewhere on the island, the Delgados are stranded and attempting to find a settlement. The family encounter various dinosaurs as they attempt to seek shelter, including Dolores, an Aquilops, that Isabrella adopts, as well as a Dilophosaurus feeding on a Parasaurolophus's corpse. Later, they encounter a Tyrannosaurus rex, which chases the Delgados down a river.

Finally, the Delagdos unite with the research team at the abandoned laboratory in hopes for the helicopter extraction. The group is suddenly attacked by a pack of ‘‘Mutadons’, mutated hybrids of pterosaur/raptor. Martin then steals the samples from Zora and attempts to flee towards the helipad. Just as Henry lights a flare, the helicopter arrives. The helicopter is destroyed by the Distortus Rex, which also devours Martin.

A flare successfully diverts the D. rex, finally allowing Duncan to reunite with the survivors. They escape the facility via an underground runway, boarding a connected boat. Zora and Henry, now in possession of the samples, decided to distribute the new medication openly, without a patent, making it accessible to the entire planet.
