Plot Synopsis
Theo, an architectural student, meets Ivy, an aspiring chef, in one London evening. The two converse and Ivy begins to detail her dream of starting her own restaurant in America. Theo agrees and moves with her.
Fast forward ten years later, the two are now married and have two children, Roy and Hattie. Theo and Ivy have wildly different parenting methods. Ivy spoils with sweets and fun, while Theo is more concerned about wellness and practicality. Because Ivy had given up on her restaurant dreams to raise the children, Theo buys her a piece of real estate so Ivy can finally realize her dream.

Later, a massive storm causes havoc and destroys the naval history museum that Theo newly designed. Ivy takes refugees from the storm into her restaurant where they can seek shelter. Because of positive press and well written reviews from famous food critics, Ivy’s restaurant becomes a massive success. She is now the breadwinner while Theo has lost his job and agrees to be a stay at home father. This is where Theo regiments a new diet and exercise plan to his children. Ivy and Theo grow distant as Ivy begins to feel left out and Theo is jealous of Ivy’s newfound success.

Their marriage is clearly on thin ice, so the two attempt to reconcile by undergoing marriage counseling and taking a romantic trip to New York City. These do not work, however, as the two begin to feel contempt and disgust for the other, with each blaming one another for their current predicament. Ivy, in a final attempt at resuscitating the marriage, uses her restaurant profit to build their dream home.

Three years later, the house is complete and their children, Hattie and Roy, are both accepted to the University of Miami on sports scholarships. Now with their children gone and nothing else to distract them, Ivy and Theo’s marriage blooms into straight up hostility and seething cruelty. Ivy berates and insults Theo in front of friends and in turn, Theo will retaliate into something just as cruel.

Sometime later, Theo, after a spiritual awakening prompted by saving a beached whale, realizes his love for Ivy has faded and seeks a divorce. He requests only the house, but Ivy is determined to leave him with nothing.

A bitter impasse ensues, leading them to engage in vindictive tactics to make each other's lives miserable. This results in Theo being blacklisted from architecture and Ivy's restaurants being shut down due to health violations. In a particularly cruel act, Theo tricks Ivy into eating a raspberry cake, triggering a severe allergic reaction. He withholds her EpiPen, demanding she sign the divorce papers. Despite this, he eventually saves her, but Ivy retaliates by attempting to shoot him with their home defense gun. A chaotic chase ensues through the house, causing widespread destruction and irreparable damage to Ivy's cherished Julia Child oven.

Amidst the heated confrontation, Theo confesses he still loves Ivy despite everything that has transpired. Ivy admits to reciprocal feelings and lowers the gun. As they begin to reconcile intimately, a gas leak, caused by the damaged oven, goes unnoticed. Unaware of the escalating danger, Theo instructs their smart home system to ignite a fire, and the screen cuts to white.
