Plot Synopsis
On Earth-828, in the year 1960, a group of scientists (Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Benjamin Grimm and Johnny Storm) embark into an outer space mission. The group gains superhuman abilities due to their exposure to cosmic rays during the length of the mission. Upon returning to Earth, they become a superhero team known as the Fantastic Four.
Four years after their mission, the group have become household names and are generally regarded as the protectors of the world. Johnny and Sue, a couple, inform Ben and Johnny that they are expecting a child.
Months later, the Silver Surfer arrives on Earth, declaring that Galactus, a cosmic entity that consumes planets, has targeted Earth for destruction. The team, having investigated numerous planetary disappearances, resolves to the public that they will negotiate Earth's destiny with Galactus.
Tracking the Silver Surfer's energy signature to a distant star system, the team arrives just as Galactus's ship obliterates the planet, leading to their immediate capture. Galactus then proposes a grim bargain: he will spare Earth if Reed and Sue sacrifice their unborn son, sensing a formidable power within him, which consequently induces Sue's labor. The team vehemently rejects this offer and ingeniously utilizes the gravity of a black hole to escape both Galactus and the Silver Surfer.
On the flight back to Earth, Sue gives birth to her son, Franklin Richards. After a disastrous press conference attempting to explain their failure to defeat Galactus, the Fantastic Four face widespread public fear and condemnation regarding Galactus's impending arrival. With Franklin in her arms, Sue publicly vows that the team will do whatever it takes to defeat Galactus, thereby regaining the public's trust.
Later, Reed develops a system of standing teleportation bridges intended to transport Earth to a distant galaxy, far from Galactus's reach. However, as the bridges are activated, they are destroyed by the Silver Surfer.
Johnny intervenes, however, stopping her from reaching the final bridge in Times Square. Having learned her language from a previous encounter, he identifies her as Shalla-Bal. She reveals she willingly became Galactus's herald to protect her home world, Zenn-La. Overwhelmed by the dying words of the planets she had guided Galactus to, Shalla-Bal flees in distress.
The team attempts to lure Galactus to the Times Square bridge using Franklin as bait, planning to teleport him away from Earth. They negotiate with Mole Man to evacuate New York's citizens to his underground city of Subterranea. The plan fails, and Galactus takes Franklin from the Baxter Building. Sue uses her shield-generating powers to force Galactus into the portal, while Reed rescues Franklin.
As Sue falters from overexertion, Johnny prepares to sacrifice himself for a final push, but Shalla-Bal stops him, sacrificing herself instead to knock Galactus into the portal and teleport them both away. Reed, Ben, and Johnny recover Sue, who appears to have died from exhausting her powers. However, Franklin's newly awakened powers resuscitate her when Reed places him on her chest. The team is subsequently celebrated for their victory against Galactus.
In the post-credits scene, precisely four years later, Sue is reading to Franklin in the living room of Baxter Building. After leaving the room momentarily, she returns to the room, only to see a man in a green cloak holding a metal mask interacting with son. That man is Doctor Doom.
