No Name, a new, unnamed Smurf, is brand new to Smurf Village. He attempts to get a log carving job but is unsuccessful; he is unpopular in Smurf Village. After wandering through the forest, No Name learns magic powers from Jaunty, a magical book. Back at Smurf Village, No Name is showing off his newly learned magic powers, creating a magical pulse through four different portals. This new opening of portals allows Papa Smurf to be captured by Razamel, Gargamel’s brother, and their henchman Joel.
The rest of the Smurfs, along with a Turtle, go off to find Ken, Papa Smurf’s brother, to get him to help them. They all enter a portal through a gramophone where they find themselves in Paris, France.
The Smurfs later meet a group called the International Neighborhood Watch, which is a group of ninja Smurfs led by Ken’s daughter, Moxie. This group leads them to a disco ball at a club, where they meet Ken. Ken agrees to help them find his brother. No Name uses his newfound magic to create a portal to Razamel’s Castle. The Smurfs attempt to enter, but a force field upon the castle bounces them right to the Australian Outback.

Here, they meet Snooterpoots, which are creatures full of hairy Smurfs who snatch pockets. The group of Snooterpoots take the rest of the Smurfs to Mamma Poot, the leader of the Snooterpoots. She informs them that the evil wizards share one mind and one mission; to rule the world with evil and eradicate all the goodness from the Universe. Feeling defeated and guilty, No Name runs away for having caused this.
Smurfette comforts No Name while Razamel captures the rest of the Smurfs as well as the Snooterpoots. Mama Poot, determined to save her children, rallies up No Name and Smurfette and brings them to Munich to stop him.
No Name, Mama Poot, and Smurfette burst into the room just as Razamel is about to attack Papa Smurf. It turns out Jaunty has been performing magic for No Name. Joel captures the three, while Razamel corrupts Jaunty, then disowns Gargamel and flies off with Jaunty. An enraged Gargamel saves the Smurfs and escapes with them. Papa Smurf comforts the others by recounting how his brother, Ron, sacrificed himself to save Jaunty.

Razamel attends a meeting of the Intergalactic Evil Wizard Alliance and boasts about his evil deeds. When they dismiss him, he traps them in a water dispenser and uses the four evil books to seize control of the universe. However, he is interrupted by Gargamel and the Smurfs, who crash into the scene in a flying car.
After most of the Smurfs are sacrificed, Smurfette manages to turn Jaunty good again. She, No Name, and Jaunty leap into an inter-dimensional portal, with Razamel in hot pursuit. Overcoming his self-doubt, No Name regains his magical powers and defeats Razamel, transforming the evil books back to good. No Name, now calling himself Magic Smurf, banishes Razamel and a tardigrade to an unknown dimension. Ron then emerges from the dimensional door, reuniting with Ken and Papa. The Smurfs return to Smurf Village to celebrate, while Gargamel informs Joel that they have more work ahead.
