Plot Synopsis

Taking place twenty-two years after the events of the first film, Anna Coleman is now a successful music producer and manager. Anna, along with the help of her mother, Tess, is raising Harper, her teenage daughter. Anna is summoned to the principals office to discuss the feud between her daughter and Lily Davies, a British immigrant, that happened in their chemistry class. Anna meets Lily’s father, Eric, and the two flirt. The flirting leads to the two eventually falling in love. Six months after first meeting, the two are engaged to be married.

Harper and Lily are dissatisfied with their parents' romance. Harper worries that Anna will move to London and leave her behind with Tess. Lily wishes to move to London permanently. Disgruntled by their new arrangement, the two girls start a food fight at a class bake sale, landing their whole class in detention.

Later, during Anna’s bachelorette party, Anna and Tess have their palms read by psychic Madame Jen. Madam Jen coerces Harper and Lily to have their palms read, too. She warns the four about their fractured lives and how dangerous their friction is. Suddenly, an earthquake occurs, but suspiciously, only the four feel. They have switched bodies. Anna and Tess are now Harper and Lily, while Harper and Lily are now Tess and Anna.

Anna and Tess leave detention to learn more from Madam Jen. She says that they are to fix each other’s hearts to fix the switch. Meanwhile, Lily and Harper are set on destroying the relationship between Anna and Eric, hoping their actions will call off the wedding. They first visit a photoshoot of Anna’s client, Ella, helping the singer overcome a recent breakup. Here the two learn that Anna has written a secret love song that is about Anna’s old boyfriend, Jake. They decide this will be the fire that will destroy Anna’s relationship with Eric.

The two visit Jake. Harper attempts to seduce him but is unsuccessful, however, Lily manages to bond with him. Later, during Eric’s immigration interview, Harper attempts to figure out how much he loves Anna and begins to rethink their plan to break the two apart. Lily, however, is still bent on calling it off. She brings in Jake to the rehearsal dinner and makes a scene. Upset, Eric decides he cannot continue with the engagement. He leaves. Anna, devastated and angry about the girl’s plot to corrupt her love life, leaves to assist Ella at her concert. Harper follows.

Lily celebrates her win but is confronted by Tess who makes her realize her selfishness and how unhappy she made her father. She goes after Eric to convince him to not give up on Anna, with all three leaving to get her at Ella's concert.

At Ella’s concert, Anna discovers that Ella has brought Anna’s old high school band Pink Slip to perform Anna’s song. Harper and Anna join in on the song together after clearing their differences. Eric sees the performance and his love for Anna is cemented.

Backstage, Tess and Lily bond, while Lily decides she wants to join this family. With this realization, they fulfill Madame Jen’s intention and they are reverted back to their original bodies. Anna and Eric later marry, and the family lives, yup, you guessed it, happily ever after.
